Terms of Service
What Polestar is, what you agree to, and what we promise in return.
In short
- Polestar is a free guide addon for World of Warcraft: Forever and a site where players publish community guides for it. There is nothing to pay.
- You must be 13 or older (or the higher age your country sets for agreeing to online services on your own, up to 16). Keep your sign-in to yourself.
- What you publish stays yours, under the license you choose; you give us the right to host and distribute it.
- Follow the Community Guidelines. We can remove content or suspend accounts that break them, and we tell you why.
- You can leave whenever you like: export your data, then delete your account from Account › Privacy & your data.
1. Who we are
Polestar ("we", "us") is provided by Fitz, a sole trader in Sweden. Write to [email protected] about these terms, and to [email protected] about your data.
2. The service
Polestar is a free, open-source guide addon for World of Warcraft: Forever, and polestar.guide, where you can read its documentation, publish community guides, and find, star, follow and collect other players’ guides. Polestar is a community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.
3. Your account
You must be 13 or older (or the higher age your country sets for agreeing to online services on your own, up to 16) to make an account. You sign in with an email and password, a sign-in link, or Battle.net, Google, Discord or GitHub. Everything done through your account is treated as done by you, so keep your sign-in and any API keys secret, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used them. Your @handle must not impersonate anyone.
4. What you publish
You keep every right you have in the guides, images, comments and other content you publish. By publishing, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, build, scan, display and distribute it (including to players through Polestar Client and the signed index) for as long as it is published, and for a short time after for backups. You confirm you have the right to publish it under the license you chose. The Content & Licensing Policy has the details.
5. The rules
Use Polestar in line with the Community Guidelines and the law. Don’t upload malware or anything that tries to run code, don’t probe or overload the service, don’t scrape it at scale or get around rate limits, and don’t use it to harass anyone.
6. Moderation
We review reports and may hide or remove content, hold a build that fails a malware scan, or suspend an account, temporarily or for good. Each decision comes with a statement of the reasons, and you can ask us to look at it again (Copyright & takedowns, "Appeals").
7. Free, as is
Polestar costs nothing and is provided as is. Guides are written by players and can be wrong or out of date; we don’t check them for accuracy. We may change, pause or stop any part of the service, and will say so on the site when it matters to you.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, lost data or anything arising from following a guide. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
9. Leaving
You can stop using Polestar at any time and delete your account in Account › Privacy & your data. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after telling you why, unless the law or safety stops us.
10. Changes
We will tell you before a material change to these terms takes effect, and ask you to accept it on your next visit. If you don’t accept it, you can delete your account.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the country you live in and can bring a claim there.
