BetaVersion 0.1.0For WoW: Forever

The Addons page: Polestar with an update from 0.2.6 to 0.2.7, Polestar Recorder up to date, and LibForeverData ready to install. Under them: each download is checked against the checksum GitHub publishes for it, and other addons are never touched.

Polestar, kept up to date.

One place for Polestar's addons, straight from the project's GitHub releases.

  • Installs and updates

Polestar, Polestar Recorder and LibForeverData, from their GitHub releases.

  • Checked before it lands

Every download is checked against its published checksum before your AddOns folder changes.

  • Leaves the rest alone

Your other addons are never touched.

Community guides in one click.

On any community guide's page here, choose Download guide, then Install with Polestar Client. The client opens with a short confirm sheet, and the guide is in.

  • No account and nothing to sign in to.
  • A Community Guides page to install, update and remove them.
  • Automatic guide updates if you want them. They are off by default, take routine updates only, a day after release, and a new publisher or new folders always asks first.
The Community Guides page: six installed community guides, each with its creator, version and an Update, Restore or Replace button. One was turned off by polestar.guide, with the reason; one was replaced by a different guide under the same name; one was removed by polestar.guide.

Careful with your AddOns folder.

Only Polestar's addons and the community guides you choose go in, and it tells you what it did.

  • Every guide list is signature-checked, and only guide files go into AddOns.
  • If polestar.guide pulls a guide, the client turns it off or removes it, and shows you why.
  • Activity lists every addon change and upload on your PC, newest first.
The Activity page: every upload and addon change on this PC, newest first. Shared play, an addon update, an install that failed, and community guides turned off and removed by the community site.

Help build better routes, if you like.

Recording is opt-in. Choose Start sharing in the client, and it uploads what the Polestar Recorder addon logs as you play, to help build better routes.

  • Off until you choose Start sharing.
  • Quests, kills and NPC positions. Character names are stripped, and chat is never sent.
  • A What we send page shows all of it.
  • Recording starts with the next Polestar update.
Recording's Status page with sharing on: this week's play (quests accepted and turned in, creatures killed, things looted, trainers and flight masters visited), the characters by class, race and level only, and what is on this PC.

Windows, macOS and Linux.

Version 0.1.0, a beta. A small window and a tray icon, and it updates itself after this, with signed updates.

What's new in 0.1.0, and every file: the release notes on GitHub (opens in a new tab).

Questions

Do I need Polestar Client?

No. Polestar works without it. Community guides still download as a zip, and Polestar stays on CurseForge and GitHub as it is today.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no login. If you start sharing, uploads carry a random id for your install, and character names are stripped before anything is sent.

Which games does it work with?

World of Warcraft: Forever, and only that.

Is it finished?

It's a beta: version 0.1.0, the first release. It updates itself as new versions come out. Tell us what breaks on the Discord.
