Version 1.1 · effective October 30, 2026

How to report illegal content or infringement (EU DSA and US DMCA), and how to appeal.

Every guide on Polestar is someone’s work: routes a player tested, timed and wrote up. We protect it.

If a guide here copies yours, tell us. A person reviews every notice, and when one holds up we take the guide down: off the site and out of every player’s Polestar Client. We are fair to both sides, so an author who believes we got it wrong can send a counter-notice.

Send a copyright notice

In short

  • Rights-holders: send a copyright notice with the form at polestar.guide/legal/copyright/report. No account is needed; we confirm your email before the notice reaches a moderator.
  • Report other illegal content with Report on its page, or write to [email protected], our single point of contact for notices and for authorities.
  • We act on complete notices promptly and tell both sides what we decided and why. The author learns who sent the notice (name and organization), never their contact details.
  • If your guide was taken down by mistake, send a counter-notice from its page in Studio, or appeal the decision.

1. Reporting illegal content (EU Digital Services Act)

Use Report on the guide or comment, or write to [email protected] with: where the content is (its address), why you believe it is illegal, your name and email (you may stay anonymous for some offences), and a statement that the notice is accurate and given in good faith. We confirm receipt, decide without undue delay, and tell you the outcome.

2. Statement of reasons

When we restrict content or an account, the person affected receives a statement of the reasons with the decision: what was restricted, on what ground (the law or which of our policies), whether the decision used automated means (such as the malware scan), and how to appeal.

3. Appeals

Reply to the decision, or write to [email protected] within six months, saying why you think it was wrong. A moderator who did not make the first decision reviews it, and we tell you the result. In the EU you may also use an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the DSA, or go to court.

4. Copyright notices (US DMCA)

Send a notice with the copyright notice form (or to [email protected]) with: your physical or electronic signature; the copyrighted work; the material you say infringes and its address on polestar.guide; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them. The form asks for each of these and sends you a link to confirm your email; the notice reaches a moderator once you open it. If we act on it, the guide is taken off the site and every version is removed from players’ Polestar Client. Its authors are told your name and organization and what you claim, never your email, address or phone. A notice that knowingly misrepresents infringement can make its sender liable for damages.

Send a copyright notice

5. Counter-notices

If your guide was taken down after a copyright notice and you believe that was a mistake, send a counter-notice from the link on the guide’s page in Studio (or to [email protected]): your signature; the material removed and where it was; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district in which Polestar may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice. We forward it, with your contact details, to the person who sent the notice, as the law requires. Unless they tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have gone to court, we restore the guide. The versions removed stay removed from players’ clients: you upload a new version and it goes out as usual.

6. Repeat infringers

Each guide taken down on a copyright notice, and not restored after a counter-notice, counts as a copyright strike on the account that owns it. At three strikes, a moderator reviews the account and, as a rule, suspends it; we may act sooner on a clear and serious case. A strike is cleared when the guide is restored, and deleting a guide does not clear it.
