## Steps

The steps as the guide window shows them, in order. Goals marked with a race or class are only for that race or class; a step marked with a condition applies only while it holds.

### 1. Pick your clan

Where: 66.7, 10.9 on the Desolace map.

The Gelkis (south-west Desolace) and the Magram (south-east) are at war: every kill of one clan gives the other 20 and costs its own clan 100, so you can only climb with one. Both start Neutral. Forever's quests are worth far more than kills now, and the choice quests no longer cost the other clan anything. Alliance: Captain Pentigast at Nijel's Point offers Strange Alliance (Gelkis) and Brutal Politics (Magram). Horde: Gurda Wildmane, east of Shadowprey, offers Gelkis Alliance and Magram Alliance. Take the one of your clan and its Buying Friendship (3,000 for carrying a tote of totems), then tick the task. The guide goes on with the Gelkis; take the Magram's quests instead and it jumps to the Magram half. Do the clan's quests by level 50 if you can: in Classic a quest pays less once it is 6 or more levels below you, down to a fifth.

- Accept **Strange Alliance** from Captain Pentigast (Alliance only, optional) — Strange Alliance: Gelkis
- Accept **Buying Friendship: Gelkis** from Captain Pentigast (Alliance only, optional) — Buying Friendship: Gelkis
- Accept **Gelkis Alliance** from Gurda Wildmane (Horde only, optional) — Gelkis Alliance
- Accept **Buying Friendship: Gelkis** from Gurda Wildmane (Horde only, optional) — Buying Friendship: Gelkis
- Take the quests of one clan

### 2. Gelkis Village: Uthek and Molkar

Where: 36.2, 79.3 on the Desolace map.

Gelkis Village sits in the hills of south-west Desolace; Uthek the Wise stands at its heart. Molkar, the Gelkis quartermaster, is at the south end of the village. Buying Friendship alone takes you from Neutral to Friendly.

- Turn in **Strange Alliance** at Uthek the Wise (Alliance only) — Uthek the Wise: 250
- Accept **Raid on the Kolkar** from Uthek the Wise (Alliance only) — Raid on the Kolkar
- Turn in **Gelkis Alliance** at Uthek the Wise (Horde only) — Uthek the Wise: 250
- Accept **Stealing Supplies** from Uthek the Wise (Horde only) — Stealing Supplies
- Turn in **Buying Friendship: Gelkis** at Molkar (Alliance only) — Molkar: 3,000
- Turn in **Buying Friendship: Gelkis** at Molkar (Horde only) — Molkar: 3,000

Skips ahead to step 10 if Brutal Politics is in your quest log, or if Magram Alliance is in your quest log.

### 3. Gelkis: the Kolkar camps (Alliance only)

Where: 69.5, 44 on the Desolace map.

The Kolkar centaurs (level 30–33) hold the camps south of Nijel's Point, along the eastern road. About one in four drops a Crude Charm.

- Collect **Crude Charm** ×10 for Raid on the Kolkar — Crude Charm: Kolkar centaurs
- Turn in **Raid on the Kolkar** at Uthek the Wise — Uthek the Wise: 500
- Accept **Stealing Supplies** from Uthek the Wise

### 4. Gelkis: Magram Village

Where: 69.8, 77.9 on the Desolace map.

The Sacks of Meat lie about Magram Village, in the south-east. Every Magram you kill on the way pays the Gelkis 20.

- Collect **Crudely Dried Meat** from **Sack of Meat** ×6 for Stealing Supplies — Crudely Dried Meat: Sacks of Meat
- Kill **Magram Wrangler** (optional) — Magram Wrangler: 20 Gelkis
- Kill **Magram Windchaser** (optional) — Magram Windchaser: 20 Gelkis

### 5. Gelkis: Ongeku

Where: 36.2, 79.3 on the Desolace map.

Back to Uthek, then east to the Swamp of Sorrows: Ongeku (level 37) waits by a black cauldron in Fallow Sanctuary, north-east of Stonard.

- Turn in **Stealing Supplies** at Uthek the Wise — Uthek the Wise: 500
- Accept **Ongeku** from Uthek the Wise
- Kill **Ongeku** for **Draenethyst Shard** for Ongeku — Draenethyst Shard: Ongeku
- Turn in **Ongeku** at Uthek the Wise — Uthek the Wise: 1,000

### 6. Gelkis: totems and kills to Honored

Where: 29.5, 58 on the Desolace map.

Friendly to Honored is 6,000; after the clan's quests you are about 4,000 into it, so 2,000 to go. Molkar's Economic Warfare takes 5 Carved Centaur Totems for 750, again and again: three turn-ins, 15 totems. The Maraudine centaurs (level 36–40) of western Desolace drop them; the totems do not bind, so the auction house is the other source. Magram kills add 20 each, but Forever's kill data stops them at the end of Friendly, 1 short of Honored. At Friendly the village also has three craft orders for 1,000 each: Halea wants 3 Greater Mystic Essences, Molkar a White Bandit Mask (tailoring) and Talra a Barbaric Harness (leatherworking). Legacy Diplomat adds up to 10%.

- Collect **Carved Centaur Totem** ×5 (optional) — Carved Centaur Totem: Maraudine centaurs

### 7. Gelkis: the Valley of Bones

Where: 36.2, 79.3 on the Desolace map.

At Honored, Uthek sends you east to Nerlokh at the southern entrance of the Valley of Bones, in Shen'dralas. Nerlokh's quests (500 each) take you among the undead and the outcasts there: Ravaging Ravagers, Outing Outcasts and Facing the Truth, then A Cleansing Cry from Uthek, and a second line (Saving Our Own, Bone Burying, Checking Things Out) that ends with Khan Jehn: kill the Magram khan in his own village for 6,000, a title and a rare level 35 weapon. They all ask you to stay Honored or better. Honored to Revered is 12,000: the valley's quests pay about 10,600 of it, two or three Economic Warfare turn-ins the rest.

Where: 58.8, 89 on the Desolace map.

Khan Jehn (level 37) leads the Magram from the west side of Magram Village, with his bodyguards. The kill costs the Magram 500. Uthek pays 6,000, a title, and your pick of three rare level 35 weapons: Abandoned Ferocity (two-handed axe: Strength, Stamina, Agility), Bludgeon of Betrayed Virtues (one-handed mace: Strength, Stamina, Agility) or Thrice-Damned Effigy (off-hand: Spirit, Intellect, Stamina).

Friendly to Honored is 6,000; after the clan's quests you are about 3,000 into it (4,000 with Gizmo for Warug), so 2,000 to 3,000 to go. Gorhak's Economic Warfare takes 5 Carved Centaur Totems for 750, again and again; the Maraudine centaurs (level 36–40) of western Desolace drop them, and the totems do not bind, so the auction house is the other source. Gelkis kills add 20 each, but Forever's kill data stops them at the end of Friendly, 1 short of Honored. At Friendly the village has two craft orders for 1,000 each: Mirda's 3 Greater Shadow Protection Potions and Grolkar's 2 Massive Iron Axes (blacksmithing). Warug's A Conqueror's Crown (1,000) is no craft order: he wants a Conqueror's Helm from a crypt in the Badlands, and Forever's quest pages put it in his chain before the Valley of Bones, so bring it before you reach Honored.
